Yehuda Poliker: News

Poliker's Birthday Bangup

It wasn't the most auspicious way to celebrate his 46th birthday: Yehuda Poliker was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle in Tel Aviv this past Thursday (December 26). It hurt -- but not enough to require a hospital stay. Here's hoping the rest of the year is happier for him! (Dec. 28)

Poliker Comes Alive
Finishing up work on live album

Following on the success of "The Child in Me," Yehudah Poliker is now mixing a live album recorded in Caesarea, he revealed in a rare interview with the Jerusalem Post (Dec. 16, 1996).

The interview comes as Poliker's music takes to the stage as the score for Scenes from an Execution, now playing at the Jerusalem Khan Theatre. Jerusalem Post writer Michael Ajzenstadt calls the score "authentic Poliker -- a mixture of tender rock enveloped in a very specific Mediterranean ambience, powerful ethnic music, which is used by the director to create the overall aura she depicts on stage."

In the interview, Poliker discusses his famous perfectionism. "Sometimes I have five-year battles with a certain song," he says. His work isn't done until a song "really sends shivers down my spine, then I know it is really right, and I hope it will do the same to the audience." (Dec. 24, 1996)
